Hey all!! How was your week! I would love to hear from you! I can only respond on Mondays, but I love getting and reading y'alls emails! Alright there was a lot of stuff that happened this week so let's get started!
Tuesday was the 4th, and being in a small town in Indiana there wasn't actually a whole going on. In some of the surrounding areas there was stuff going on, so we went to a few of those events that evening. As for the rest of the day, we went over to a members house and got to here their conversion story! And thus family's story is soo awesome! And they are going to the temple this week to be endowed for the parents, and sealed as a family! I'm soo excited for them! Sadly I won't get to go, because 1: we weren't the ones to teach them, and 2: the temple they are going to is 4 hours away, and their session isn't until 6pm.
Wednesday we had a pancake breakfast with our zone, and a few other zones that are close by, and that was soooooooooo much fun!!! They had 9 square and volleyball set up, but obviously I played 9 square. And that was really fun. President McGuire played with us, and it's so funny because President can roast/trash talk you in a fun and friendly way. I did not think that he was like that, but he is! I also got to see 2 out of the 3 10-G girls there. Sister Dahle and Sister Thayne, and it was so great to talk to them and see them face to face again. Hope to see you again soon 10-G.
Thursday wasn't very eventful, except for the fact that I shook my cherry coke a little to much and almost spilled it in the car, lol. Also on Thursdays during the summer they have local bands come and play. Thus week a Beachboys tribute band, so that was fun. Friday we went to a members house for dinner, and we were there for a little bit, just playing with the kids and talking to the mom. They showed us around their farm, it was so fun!
Saturday was a really long day, and I'm not entirely sure why. But we did get to celebrate Sister Hansen's 11th month mark by going to a local pizzeria, which was amazing! Then later I was sending cold texts, (which is where you text random numbers) and I accidentally ended up texting a member! It was hilarious!
Sunday we went to church, and went to some members houses. One member had a 2 year old living with her, and she was so cute! And then the other members we went to for dinner. And no lie, her storage is like a mini store! And she told us to take anything we need! So we did take a few things that we needed, and that was good.
Funny story:
On the way back from the pancake breakfast, Sister Hansen "Got us lost". She drove us to the outskirts of Cincinnati, and it was soo cool to see the city. The Batesville sisters, (they had carpooled with us) also thought that the city was cool from where we could see it! (Sadly sisters aren't allowed to serve in the city because of the kind of dangers that are there)
Spiritual thought:
Sister Hansen and I were doing comp study, and I, (being me;)) started singing "Let it grow" from the lorax. But it was the part that says, "let it die, let it die, let it shrivel up and die." And all of the the sudden sister Hansen and I started to make a really cool analogy from the lorax.
The story of the lorax is like the restoration. Once there was lots of trees and everyone was happy, (the time when the gospel was on the earth) but then slowly over time, the oncler decided and started to cut down all the trees and push all his animal friends away. (The start of/the great apostasy) but then years later, a young boy wanted to know the truth about trees, and what had happened. (Joseph Smith. Can you see it yet;)) and once the boy was taught everything he got the last trufflula tree seed and planted it to start growing, (the restoration of the gospel) lots of people took to it well. And the lorax came back. (The early saints of the church, and the holy ghost came back)
How cool is that! I don't think that Dr. Suess knew that he was writing about the restoration, but he did!
Well I think that's all for this week, if y'all would just keep praying for our friend David, it would be much appreciated! I'll write again next week!
Miss you guys soo much!
Love, Sister Alex Hersom! <3<3<3<3
Here are the pics from thus week which include the city, our food from the mini store, Lawrenceburg (which i swear should be in a hallmark movie) and me in front of a band tour bus. I'll also include the link for my Google photos album.
