I'm gonna be a... Trainer for Halloween?!?
Hey Everyone!!! How's it goin? Hope all is well! I know that this week has been a bit hectic for me, but I hope that yours was great! The title of this email comes from an experience I had this week. So if your really curious, keep reading!!
Monday: P-day fun!!
Monday we did our regular p-day things. And we had a fall photoshoot!! (You should be very proud aunt Sara!) We rook some really fun pictures at a park that's in our area, so some of them be put in here. (To see all of them, you'll have to join my Google photos album. Because we took a lot!)
Tuesday: a lesson to get excited about!
Ok, so Tuesday we had our weekly lesson with our friend Charles!!! And guess what!?!? No, he's not on date for baptism yet. We're still working on it. But we did find out why he's hesitant about baptism!! So we did our best to ease his fears and explain. The rest of his story will be included on Sunday because that's when the rest of of it happened.
Wednesday: District council
Wednesday we had a fire district council!! We practiced teaching simply. Meaning elder Dujardin thought it would be a great idea to teach the Word of Wisdom, the Law of Chasity and The restoration of the Gospel through Joseph Smith in 15 seconds!! (15 seconds each that is, not all at once. That would be nearly not possible.) I only taught the Word of Wisdom and The restoration of the gospel through Joseph Smith. We all stood and rotated both for being taught and teaching. Thankfully I was being taught the Law of Chasity. (Still working on teaching that one.) But It was kinda fun actually and a good reminder to keep things simple!!
Thursday: wackiest schedule yet
Thursday, we did a bunch of finding, and did nothing but switch our schedule around at least 5 times! (I'm not exaggerating, it really was at least 5 times.) It all started at Buffalo wild wings. We went there for lunch. (Sister Braun's parents sent her a gift card, so we've been a few times since Huber Heights:)) but we had to wait a while to get our food. We ordered, but then waited like 40 minutes for it. But it was all good in the end. Then a bunch of other stuff happened that I literally can't remember. I know that we had lessons set up, then we had one cancel. Then we set up another one, and that one canceled. And then we had to move our schedule around because we had apartment inspections, but that had to move too. To accommodate the Steiningers schedule. Oof. Busy day.
Friday: also a wack day
Friday was weekly planning. Which we made a lot if changes to our board as we added a few friend that we're teaching, and made new teaching plans for them. So that was good, and took awhile. Then we went to the library to watch the funeral for Pypers mom. (My step-grandma) I got to watch it, but I couldn't hear it. But it's OK, I was still there! I didn't think about asking the Steiningers to use their laptop until after we were at the library. But oh well. Thwn we went home for lunch, and while we were eating, my packages came!!!! (I asked my parents to send me my winter dresses and clothes and such. And they did!!!:)) And i got letters from my siblings, which made my day!! I love mail, so Thanks Dad and Pyper!!!:))) Then we had the ward chili cook-off that evening!! (Which honestly really made me miss my home ward!) Which was great! We got a text that afternoon asking if we could judge the pumpkin desserts! The look on the Elders faces when they announced that we were the judges! It was the best!! They did ask if they could judge something, but they were told no. But it was still funny!! Then with me not using my brain, I set up a lesson at 7:30 and we had to leave the party early! So sad, especially because we had some if our friends were there. (A couple of kids that I have yet to actually meet, meet because we haven't been able to get a lesson.)
Saturday I honestly can't remember what we did, and that was like 2 days ago!!🤣🤣🤣 But what I do remember is talking to the elders at English class. They didn't have a lot of people to English again, but this time it was all good as we got to talk to the elders. It was fun just talking. Elder Dujardin has the best Utah accent!! And our elders are just so funny!! I was asking them what they thought was going to happen at transfers this week (😬) Elder Dujardin said that the Creole elders are definitely staying, and that Elder Terry, (a Bellefontaine elder) is leaving. (He got his visa so, he really is leaving to his original assignment. Sad and happy day🥲) He said that I just got here so I'm staying, and that depending on how many sisters we get in this transfer, Springfield is a great place to be trained! I asked if he was implying if I was training and he just shrugged!! So we'll see what happens! As for Sister Braun, he said that he has no idea was going to happen with her.
Sunday: Best church ever!!!!
So Sunday, Charles came to church for the 7th time in a row!!! AND he met with the bishop!!! (Which is a requirement for baptism!!) AND he came to a member baptism we had after church!!!!! He's literally soooo close!! Not quite ready, but hopefully, very, very soon!! And honestly Sunday was pretty busy and really good. So!!
Well, like I mentioned earlier this week is transfers so we'll see what's gonna happen. Sister Braun and I really think that we're staying. But we'll see!!
Spiritual thought:
This week I've been thinking a lot about the natural man desires. Do we know what our natural man desires? Do we cave and give in? Or do we acknowledge that it's there and ask God for help with it? In Ether 12:27 it talks about weaknesses. (You most likely know what this scripture is, but I'll share it anyway.:))
27 And if men come unto me I will show unto them their weakness. I give unto men weakness that they may be humble; and my grace is sufficient for all men that humble themselves before me; for if they humble themselves before me, and have faith in me, then will I make weak things become strong unto them.
Of we acknowledge our natural man desires, know its a weakness and turn to God, he can help us overcome them and turn it into a strength for us!
I hope that you all have a fantastic week!
Thanks for your continued love, support and prayers! (And emails!!) I love you all!!
Love Sister Alex Hersom!!❤️❤️
