Welcome to Cincy!!!! (12/18/23)
Hey all!!! How was your week?!? Mine was fun, hectic, stressful, crazy, But overall good!!! Well I guess y'all want an update so here!
Highlights:
☆We got to go out on tuesday!! (Sister Braun had been sick all of pday last week, soooo) we didn't do a whole lot, but we did get to leave the apartment!!
☆District council!!! We had got some local doughnuts from a local bakery for it and boy were they good!! Then after district council we did transfer predictions, and all the elders thought that sister Braun and I were doubling out!🤯🙄 Like, pffft! Nah man, we're to good for that! (Lol)
☆Wednesday night=transfer calls! Well, we found out a little bit early what transfers would be like for us as the APs called us that afternoon. But when Elder Gertsch called us that night, we said ok this is happening, where? So he told us what was happening and we kinda freaked out a bit, but he was nice about it and was talking to us about it too, so yeah!!
☆Oh, I'm sorry, did you want to know what happened for transfers? (Jk 🤣🤣) Well, Sister Braun got Doubled into to Eaton, (Dayton) And I... Also got transferred!!! I'm now in Western Hills Ohio! The closest I will ever get to Cincinnati!! (Western Hills is like actually right outside Cincy) so crazy!!
☆Thursday we texted a lot of members and friends good bye, and did a lot of cleaning and packing up. (😥) Happy thing! Shout-out to my parents!!! They sent an olive garden gift card so Sister Braun and I could have one last hooraah! The server was really good and funny!!
☆Friday=Hello transfers!! So Friday we got up and finished packing and cleaning, and said Goodbye to Springfield, (goodbye Haitians, goodbye Bellfountaine, goodbye elders, goodbye best district ever!!!😭) and hello to other missionaries and other areas! But the good thing about transfers is I got to see all my 10-G sisters!!!! First time all back together in 6 months!!! Love ya queens! But saying goodbye to Sister Braun was sad as we did our last "pound-it"! But things picked up quickly as I said hello to Sister Richmond!! (She's awesome! This also means that I'm in a district with the APs, and office couples now. So we'll see how that goes)
☆Saturday the elders had a baptism!!! And obviously we were there to help! Crazy thing is, the lady who got baptized, (Tracie) I knew!!!
☆Story time!!! I met Tracie on an exchange back in Florence, KY! I asked her to church and then we started talking a little bit. But she was living out of her car at the moment, so she couldn't get baptized yet. (She didn't have an address for records or knowing what ward she was in) Fast forward to Saturday, I talked to her a bit, but didn't recognize her until she was saying how she got to where she is today. She said something about living in her car for 6 months, and that's when it hit me, I meet this awesome lady back in Kentucky! Even better, she remembers me!!!! And it's one of her favorite stories to tell to members and others, that she met me in Kentucky, and that I'm in her ward now! Crazy cool!
☆We've been visiting members and it's so fun!!!
☆Also the ward mission leader here totes looks like my dad! His name is even the same!🤣🤣
Friends:
Since I'm in a new area, ill give you my last update on Springfield friend's and then the new ones here in Western Hills.
☆Charles sadly got sick and didn't come last Sunday, but was going to come this past Sunday. Then found out we were leaving and said that he might stop attending this church!! (😱😱😱😭😭😭🥺🥺) but we encouraged him not to do that, that even though it would be elders now. The message was the same. And when I looked at his records the new Elders set up a lesson with him, so let's go elders!! (Btw when they doubled us out, they put elders in our place)
☆Isaiah we had a lesson with right before we left. They were sad that we left, but knew that it would be ok. All he needs to do is come to church!
☆Gerda was also sad to see us go, but thanked us for meeting her!! So hopefully she still wants to go to church and meet with the elders!
Western Hills friends:
☆Ronald!! Ronald is awesome and getting baptized next week!!!! So yay! We're excited! (He's the only friend I've met do far, so he's it for now)
Spiritual thought:
I wondered why I left Springfield. I was so sure that I was going to stay in Springfield. But then we both left. As I was asking Heavenly Father, the thought came to me: 'You are needed here, Western Hills needs you, your comp needs you. You're needed here." So I want you to know that you're where you're at for a reason, because your needed there. Someone, something, even where you live. Your needed, Heavenly Father loves you, Jesus Christ loves you, and I love you!
Well that's about it for now, but I'll be back with more next week!! Hope that you have a fantastic week!
Love Sister Alex Hersom!
