The elders' approval (9/2/24)

Ggggggggooooooooooooooooooooodddddddd morninnnnnnnnnnnnn friends!! So nice to be writing to you again! Welcome back to your weekly dose of Liberty Township Ohio! This week was honestly up, down, and everywhere in the best way possible! So here's all the details!

All the up, down, and everywhere details:
☆Wednesday we had a fire district council!! It was really fun!
☆The title of this email actually comes from district council. So you know what that means! Story time! So I was asked to give a training about safeguards, (our phone guidelines) I did and Elder Bringhurst told me I did a good job. (Approval #1) Then later we roleplayed the flow and the scenario was this guy had lost his mom recently. (Well I know how that goes) so it was really cool as I got up to my turn and started using my personal experiences to roleplay to Elder Bringhurst, the elders all went completely quiet and the spirit took over, and that was really cool to see from the elders! (Approval #2) Anyway, after district council, Elder Cornia asked me where the doghnuts were! (I've been bring doughnuts to district council lately) and I said I didn't bring any this time. I explained that I had bought some Saturday night, but figured they would be hard by Wednesday so I ate them all. Elder Bringhurst gave me a fist bump and told me that was a power move. (🤣 Oh elders! And Approval #3) But I did promise a treat this week, so yay! (Just for confirmation, I'm not looking for approval from the elders, I just thought it was cool that they did notice a few things I do)
☆We accidentally knocked a members house! But that's OK, they let us in and gave us water! Gotta love those members!
☆We had a fantastic member dinner on Wednesday! The Griggs are so cute! We played cover your assets with them and they said they might not invite me back because I almost won! (🤣🤣 they were teasing)
☆Wednesday we also got a cool friend Jacob from the Hamilton elders! (More on him later)
☆Saturday we met with Jacob in person and it was soo cool! We had some good questions and you can tell he wants to be here!
☆We also had a cool dinner with a less active member and her non member husband!! It was so good!
☆And them they joined our lesson with Cameron!! And her testimony was so string and brought the spirit!!
☆Bonus! She came to church!!! We never brought it up, she did!🤯
☆President Rasmussen asked us to join him in a mission prayer for our fast on Saturday night and it was a really sweet prayer!
☆Cameron and Jacob came to church!!! And they loved it!!
☆The wind and sky was beautiful last night!! So we walked up the big hill and had a fun photoshoot!

The weekly mission laughs:
8/26-9/1
Come to church so it can bless your life! So get your head out of your booty and come to church! That is my peace offering - Sister LeSueurs opinion after I told her how some lady told me no to church
Forrest yunk? - Sister LeSueur misheard me say forrest gump
I can use my water jacket! - Sister LeSueur talking about her rain jacket when it rained
Come to church people, you see what I do for you? I'm dedicated! - Sister LeSueur putting on her rain jacket

Friends: (Sorry! I realized I forgot this in last week's email!)
☆Cameron is doing ok. He recently lost someone close to him, so he's kinda going through it. But he did come to church, so yay!
☆Jacob is so cool! He's really wanting to learn more about this church and is trying to gain a testimony of Joseph Smith and the Book of Mormon! But he's awesome and comes to church! We meet with him every Tuesday and Thursday!
(Honestly that's all the friends we have that are moving towards God right now)

Spiritual thought:
This week I've been pondering about the atonement. And here's what I've got: The Atonement of Jesus Christ covers everything. Everything we've ever been through, everything we're going through, and everything we will ever go through. Because these trial and hardships bring stress and pain, I realized that, yes He covers all of it, but sometimes we have ti give it to Him. It's like the rocks in your backpack analogy you're taught in primary. We have this backpack of rocks that we carry around full of, sometimes, sin but mostly hardship. And of course Christ can ease our burden and help us through it. But we have to let Him. Sometimes I find myself wanting to keep all of that stress and pain to myself because I don't want anyone to feel the way I do. Well Christ has already experienced that, and now I have to give it to Him. I have to stop walking, unzip my backpack, take out and hand Him the rock, so He can drop it, because He already has. And there's always something better in store for us when we do just that!

Ok my lovelies, I think that's all for now! I hope you all have a wonderful rest of your labor day and week! Happy September!
Love Sister Alex Hersom
