When you casually try to "_______" a missionary (7/8/24)

Hey hey hey all!! I hope that you had a fantastic week, and and partied hard for the 4th! My week felt so slow, but it was honestly kinda fast, so let's jump in!

Highlights:
☆We had interviews and met President Rasmussen and Sister Rasmussen this week! I love Sister Rasmussen and President Rasmussen is pretty chill!
☆It rained a bunch this week! We actually had just visited a less active and were walking back to the car when, (it was already raining hard) it started raining even harder! The sidewalk and streets were really wet and had some rivers in them! My feet were soaked when I got in the car! But it's all good!
☆I asked some guy to church, and in response he told me that I was going to meet my maker had I come 5 feet closer! (Seriously dude? Like c'mon really, a 'no' works just fine thank you)
☆When I asked this other lady to church she said she had one and casually told me that I could come to her's if I was ever looking to flip churches. Thanks, but I've found the right church for me. Lol
☆The 4th of July!! Since we just proselyted all day last year, that's what I was expecting to do again. But to our surprise, Wednesday theu sent out a message saying to have a district activity!! So heck yeah!!! We did chopped and played volleyball with a pickleball net. 😂 (Don't worry, the videos for chopped are in my  photos album if you want to see them. They're honestly quite the watch. Lol)
☆This year we did we did see some fireworks! We came home and changed, and then went outside and sat on the sidewalk across the street from our apartment, and waited for the fireworks for a little bit, when it started pouring rain! Hard! So we ran from the sidewalk across the street, back to our apartment and waited for it to stop. When it hit 10pm it stopped raining, and a firework show started! So we walked barefoot around our apartment complex to try and see some! That was an adventure as it was dark and still kinda cloudy. So we may have accidentally stepped in some geese poop. 😬🥲😂
Overall we did watch some from the window next to my bed. Which is where we had the best view all along. Lol us, good job for trying!
☆We had a ward pancake breakfast on Saturday in celebration of the 4th. It was good, Gwen came and really liked it. It made me miss my home ward parties tho. Soon enough I guess, soon enough.
☆Gwen and Jon came to church!!🤩🤩🥳🥳 And they liked it!! Yay!

Quotes:
7/1-7/7
I just love old men and their pipes. They're so fancy! - Sister Roberts when we saw a couple older guys smoking pipes

Proceeds to tell me why ice cream is healthy
You guys are like my lesbian aunties! - Sister Roberts to the stls

Friends:
☆Gwen is doing amazing!! She's come to church 2x and met with bishop yesterday!!🤩🤩 She's doing so good and making giant steps!
☆Jon came to church yesterday, but sadly he hasn't been able to meet. He keeps canceling. So hopefully we're meeting on Tuesday.

We have other friends as well, these 2 are just the ones doing the most rn. But everyone else is doing good!

Spiritual thought:
As I've been going through and listening too and reading this last general conference, I've noticed that temples are talked about quite a bit. As all you all know, I love and miss the temple with my entire being. As I've been reading about them in general conference, in the Saints books, and teaching Gwen about them, I've been reminded this week just how important they actually are. I love going because I love doing the things for those who have passed on. But I also love the peace and quiet that resides there. Poor grandma has to just about drag me out of the celestial room because I would actually stay there all day if she didn't. I love being there and knowing that I'm serving someone, but I'm also receiving extra power and strength from going, along with answers to questions sometimes. I urge you to please go to the temple as often as you can. You will never regret going and will come to cherish and deeply appreciate and understand the temple me. Please, please go.

Well, that's all I have for now. I hope that you guys have a fantastic week! And that you don't die from the heat! I'll write again next week!
Love Sister Alex Hersom!
